What Is ASCAP?
A membership-based organization better known as " American Society Of Composers, Authors and Publishers". Consisting currently of more than 50,000 members ASCAP is known world-wide as one the best resources available for the Independent Artist. What makes ASCAP such a unique organization and true benefit to every musician is the fact that it is actually the only US performing rights organization entirely created and controlled by composers,
songwriters and music publishers, with a Board of Directors elected by and from its own membership.
What Does ASCAP Do?
ASCAP protects the independent artist in many ways. As artist most musicians don't have the best business skills. ASCAP provides priceless services to its members. Services such as licensing and distributing
royalties for the non-dramatic public performances of their members' copyrighted works.
ASCAP licensees compass all who want to perform copyrighted music publicly. Overall ASCAP does a great job of giving and obtaining permission to perform music simple for both creators
and music users. Thus helping independent musicians make the money they so desperately need.
